If furniture and outdoor items are left in place, our crew can move them for you — but that comes with an additional cost, since it adds time and labor to the job that wasn’t originally part of the quote. A quick pass through the yard the day before your appointment is one of the easiest ways to keep your final bill matching your original estimate.

Protect Your Plants & Communicate Clearly

Cleaning solutions and concentrated water spray aren’t always plant-friendly, especially delicate flower beds, potted plants, or newly planted landscaping near the house. You can protect vulnerable plants yourself with a light tarp or plastic covering before we arrive — or, just as importantly, let us know exactly where they are and what you’d like extra care taken around.

Clear communication matters here as much as physical protection. A quick heads-up about a prized rose bush, a newly seeded patch of grass, or an irrigation system running nearby helps us plan the job accordingly and avoid any surprises for either of us.

Roof & Gutter Access: A Real Safety Consideration

If your job involves roof or gutter work, the areas our crew needs to climb up onto or work around need to be safe and secure. A roof with loose decking, unstable footing, or unclear access points isn’t just inconvenient — it’s a genuine hazard to whoever has to climb up there.

When a roof presents extra safety concerns, it often requires additional safety equipment — harnesses, anchor points, extra rigging time — to do the job responsibly. That added equipment and preparation time is reflected in the cost, which is one more reason it pays to flag any known roof or gutter access issues when you first request a quote.

Close & Secure Windows and Doors

Before any pressure washing or soft washing begins, every window and door on the home should be fully closed and properly secured. Water under pressure can find its way through gaps around loose-fitting windows, cracked seals, or doors that aren’t sealing tightly — and once it’s inside, that can mean real interior water damage that’s far more expensive to fix than the cleaning itself.

Take a quick walk around the house beforehand and make sure everything is shut tight, including any windows that are sometimes left cracked for ventilation.

Keep Pets Safely Inside

Pressure washing involves loud equipment, moving hoses, cleaning solutions, and crew members working around the exterior of your home — not a safe or comfortable environment for pets. Dogs, cats, and other animals should be kept safely inside (or in a separate secured area away from the work zone) for the full duration of the appointment.

This protects your pet from the noise and equipment, and it protects our crew from an understandably nervous animal near a work area with hoses, chemicals, and ladders.

Inspect for Existing Damage Beforehand

Before your appointment, take a walk around your property and look for:

• Holes or gaps in walls or siding
• Loose or damaged shingles
• Loose siding panels or trim
• Chipped or peeling paint or plaster

Pressure and even soft washing can expose or worsen existing damage that was already there — a loose shingle can come free, chipped paint can strip further under water pressure. Knowing about these areas ahead of time lets us take extra care around them, or discuss the right approach with you directly.

One exception worth mentioning: if you already have chipped or peeling paint and you’re planning a repaint anyway, stripping that old paint may actually be exactly what you want as part of your prep work. Just let us know that’s the goal, and we’ll adjust our approach accordingly instead of trying to work carefully around it.
